Long Island Woman Driving Drunk With Child In Car Crashes Into SUV, Police Say

A 40-year-old woman driving drunk with a child in her car crashed into a parked pickup truck on Long Island, police say.

It happened just after 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16 in Freeport

According to Nassau County Police, Nadera Beria, 40, of Freeport, was operating a 2019 Kia SUV and struck a parked vehicle on North Ocean Avenue. The vehicle struck was a 2004 Ford pickup truck with one male occupant, 56. Officers responded to the crash. No injuries were reported.

A subsequent investigation was conducted and Beria was placed under arrest without incident. Beria's 11-year-old daughter, who was in the vehicle, was released into the custody of a family member.

Beria was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated (child under 16) under the Leandra Law, and endangering the welfare of a child.

She will be arraigned on Tuesday, Dec. 17 in First District Court in Hempstead.
